September is Suicide Prevention Month –

Suicide can affect every one of us. Each and every suicide is devastating and can have a profound impact on those left behind. However, by raising awareness, reducing the stigma around suicide, and encouraging well-informed action, we can reduce instances of suicide. The goal is to shine a light on the issues in hopes of reaching people who are struggling before it’s too late.

At OFS we work to prevent suicide throughout the year. In addition to individual counseling and groups, several of our counselors will be giving suicide prevention presentations at area high schools this Fall. We are also hosting Are They Safe? Talking to Friends and Family About Suicide and How to Help, on November 17 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. This free workshop is open to the public. Click here for more info or to register.
