Rainbows is a program for children and adolescents (K-12) who are dealing with major family changes such as divorce or death. The 12-week program seeks to provide a “rainbow” after the storm in a child’s life. Its goals are to help participants understand and express their feelings, to build a stronger sense of self-esteem, and to direct their energy toward a healthy acceptance of the changes that have taken place. A concurrent group is offered for parents. Facilitated by Laura Smith, Rainbows Coordinator at Ozaukee Family Services. Free limited childcare is available for younger siblings.

Thursday, October 24, 6:00-7:30 pm
When caring for a child or parent with complex needs, there is an inevitable cost. We feel immense empathy for those we love when we see them struggling, often resulting in our own stress and burn out. This presentation aims to identify strategies to reduce compassion fatigue, increasing our ability to continue to care for the ones we love. Facilitated by Dr. Melissa Nelson, Licensed Counselor at North Shore Center, LLC. Free limited childcare is available.
